This afternoon I was in a real funk.  Things are pretty busy in my world and the stress is getting to me so what do I do? ….Get in my car, go for a ride and laugh!

Yes that’s right…this evening I got in my car with a friend, put the car in drive and tuned into my favourite comedian (Brian Regan). I laughed so hard that tears were streaming down my face.  After about an hour of Brian Regan and the open road I felt totally rejuvenated.  I felt like I had just came from the gym or a yoga session. I was walking on cloud nine.

This feeling made me wonder “why is laughter really the best medicine?”  Well here it is folks , there is science to back up my feeling of greatness after an hour with Brian.

There is medical evidence to support that laughter reduces the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol, epinephrine but increases growth hormones like endorphins and neurotransmitters.  I don’t know what this all means of course, but the article I am reading assures me that it’s a good thing.  Not only are there these benefits – but laughter also gives your body a bit of a work out along with a physical and emotional release.

So what does all this mean? It can only mean one thing really…..KEEP SMILING!
